The team are using an existing possession (line closure) to carry out work at Thornton Junction overnight Saturday through Sunday and into Monday morning.
The work being delivered will replace switches on a set of points which will enable trains to move off the mainline onto the Leven branch. Sleepers and rails will also be replaced in the vicinity of the junction which can only be done safely while the main line is closed.
Completing this work at the junction will enable us to then move forward with the work to create the first new sections of track on the west side of the Levenmouth rail link.
