  • What are you doing on the bridge at Bell Street?

We’re investing £700,000 on carrying out essential steelwork repair work before removing the old paint and rust and then priming and re-painting the bridge. It’s all is designed to extend the lifespan of the bridge as part of our commitment to running a safe and reliable railway.

  • When is this going to happen?

Work will begin and the road underneath the bridge will close on 18 October 2021, with all works completed and the road re-opening again on 1 April 2022.

  • Why is this work happening?

We're carrying out this work as part of our commitment to running a safe and reliable railway.

Our work will address the general breakdown of paintwork and other issues on the steel structure, and in turn will ensure the bridge is stronger and better protected against defects for years to come.

  • Will there be an increase in noise levels during the work?

Unfortunately, some of the plant and machinery we use means that noise is unavoidable, but we will do all we can to minimise it.

We have also asked those on site to work with consideration for the local community.

  • How can I make an enquiry about the works?
