Dunkeld and Birnam station platforms
Dunkeld and Birnam station platforms
A £3 million investment by Scotland’s Railway to improve the platform height at Dunkeld and Birnam Station.
The works are to raise the level of the south sections of both platforms between the footbridge and platform ends, with a gentle connecting ramp being provided between existing platforms and heightened sections.
Why?
Passengers at Dunkeld and Birnam Station currently have to take a significant step up from the platform to get on or off trains. This work will raise the height of both platforms to compliant passenger stepping distance.
The installation of car park lighting is a safety improvement to station facilities.
What will change?
The work will begin on 20 January 2025 where part of each platform will be kept open, and part will be closed for the construction works. Hoardings will be erected on the station platforms to protect the work site.
The work will be completed by 31 May 2025.
- The south sections of both platforms (from the rear of the footbridge towards Perth) will be closed for the duration of the works.
- The site compound will be within the adjacent railway sidings.
- The work will be completed outwith normal operating times, and there is no expected impact to the operation of the station car park.
