Hillington West station Platform Renewal

Hillington West station Platform Renewal

A £2.9m investment to renew platform 1 and 2 at Hillington West station.

The works are scheduled to commence in February 2025 for 26 weeks.

Network Rail, with principal contractor AmcoGiffen, will deliver nearly £3m of upgrades in platform works at Hillington West station.

The investment will not only improve safety and reliability of the railway but will provide modern, safer platforms and wider improvement to the station environment for passengers.

Part of the Scottish Government’s ongoing investment in Scotland’s Railway, these works are scheduled to commence in February.

This is a two phase approach. Our team will spend 13 weeks working on platform 1, which will be completely closed during this time.

Once this phase is complete, platform1 will reopen and our team will then spend 13 weeks renewing platform 2.

During the closures, passengers can use nearby Hillington East station.

The new platforms will have improved drainage and underfoot conditions.

Possible Disruptions

  • Train services and access to the station

At Hillington West, on the line to Paisley Gilmour Street, a £2.9m project will renew both platforms in two 13-week phases from 16 February 2025.

Platform 1 will close first, followed by Platform 2. During the closures, passengers can use nearby Hillington East station.

Project Updates

  • Project announcement press release

We issued a press release announcing Hillington West and Alexandra Parade stations are both set to benefit from platform renewal projects, thanks to a £5m investment.

Engineers will start upgrades to Alexandra Parade in January while the Hillington West improvements are scheduled to commence in February. Read the full release here.

Why?

The work at Hillington West station is part of our wider maintenance strategy to run a safe and reliable railway by protecting and improving our assets.

These renewal works to platform 1 and 2 means that they shouldn’t require an intervention on this scale again for at least another 120 years.
