This is the development of a new two platform station (with step-free access via a footbridge with lifts) adjacent to Inverness Airport. Work also includes a new double track loop through the station and closure of Petty level crossing.
Inverness Airport Station – Development of a new two platform station (with step-free access via footbridge with lifts) adjacent to the Airport. Work includes a new double track loop through the station and closure of Petty level crossing. Proposal also has associated parking, road alterations, railway access points, a permanent compound and a new footbridge close to Petty level crossing. The existing masonry arch overbridge to the east of the site is proposed to be removed.

Airport Station opens for passenger service
Passenger services have started operating at Scotland’s newest station following completion of work on the new rail interchange for Inverness Airport.
Passenger services are calling at Scotland's newest station Scottish Government Transport Minister Jenny Gilruth was joined by local children from Croy primary school to mark the official completion of the station on Thursday ahead of its opening to passengers.

Latest News - Airport station work progress update
Network Rail has released a series of images which show progress on the early stages of the development of the new Inverness Airport station.
Work got underway on the new £14m station in October and early activity has seen the site set up, groundworks and the creation of embankments at the location adjacent to the airport.

Work underway at Inverness Airport station
Work is now underway to create the new Inverness Airport station with the start of construction of the platforms at Dalcross.
The plans for the new £14m facility will see the construction of a two-platform station on the Aberdeen-Inverness line with step-free access, via a footbridge with lifts, on the site adjacent to Inverness airport.

The Highland Council's planning committee has unanimously approved proposals which will see a new railway station built at Inverness Airport.

Why?
In November 2017 Transport Scotland asked Network Rail to develop proposals to provide a new two platform station adjacent to Inverness Airport. Prior to November 2017 HITRANS led on the station development and this was incorporated into a previous planning application.
