Stirling Station roof refurbishment

Stirling Station roof refurbishment

Grade A listed Stirling station is benefitting from a further phase of investment to refurbish the slated roofs of the station's buildings.

At Stirling station we will be refurbishing the non-glazed sections of roof - so essentially all the slate roofs and associated roof lights, chimneys, guttering on both the main station building and platform 3 and 6 buildings will be replaced.

This ten month programme of work delivered in phases to minimise the inconvenience for station users.

Its a £3million pound investment which builds upon earlier projects to deliver step-free access to platforms three and six and to renew the glazed roof in the station.

This project will bring the total investment in Stirling station to more than £10 million since 2015.

Project Timeline

  1. February 2021 Project begins with scaffolding set-up
  2. April 2021 Work to remove roofs begins
  3. December 2021 Project complete

Work will safeguard the listed station buildings and will help ensure structural safety for years to come. Making the roof water-tight, and fixing the guttering and drainage, will also help protect the buildings from ongoing deterioration stemming from the ageing roofs.

What will change?

Project will see the refurbishment of all slate roofs, flat roofs, roof-lights, stone chimneys and parapets and all guttering and drainpipes on both the main station building and platform 3/6 buildings.
